I'm Ashely Josephine, but my tattoo alias is Faelien.Ink. I run a private tattoo studio and art gallery in Auburn, CA with my best friend and work wife, Tattoos By Penguin.

I draw inspiration from nature, incorporating florals, wildlife, and geometric elements into my designs. I specialize in elegant ornamental tattoos that blend seamlessly with your skin. I put a big emphasis on placement, flow, and anatomy, and have my own design process that allows me to work with my clients more closely to achieve their ideal body art.

I utilize a range of techniques, including fine line, dotwork, stipple shading, black and grey, blackwork, and negative space. I love to help my clients create artwork that they are truly happy with.

I feel I bring a unique perspective and passion to the art of tattooing, rooted in reciprocity, respect and consideration for all people as reflections of Creator. My practice is open to people from all walks of life who know this to be True.

Quiet Tattoo Shop In The Foothills Between Sacramento & Tahoe, CA

Auburn is nestled in the Sierra Foothills peacefully between the bustling city of Sacramento and the majestic destination of Lake Tahoe.

I work in a small studio hidden within the Utopia Gallery at 895 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA. It has cottage-core vibes and is quite the opposite of a noisy street shop. There are plentiful eateries, many hiking trails, and free parking. Downtown Auburn is becoming quite a hub for artistic and athletic endeavors.

Auburn and the surrounding Sierra Nevada foothills are home to a diverse range of plant life, including many with medicinal properties. The area boasts a diverse range of ecosystems, from oak woodlands to pine forests, each supporting a unique array of plant and animal life. Springtime brings a vibrant display of wildflowers, including California poppies, lupines, and other native blooms. The North Fork American River winds its way through the region, providing opportunities for water-based activities and supporting riparian ecosystems.

Auburn, CA, is a town steeped in history, a place where the past intertwines with the present.

While the Gold Rush era brought significant change to the region, it's important to acknowledge the impact on the Indigenous peoples who have called this land home for generations, and who still live here today. We do not glorify settler colonial propaganda and gold rush era romanticism, as it was deeply violent and upheld white supremacist ideologies that allowed it to justify terrorism, both to the Land and the People.

We can acknowledge that today, Auburn offers a unique blend of natural beauty, many art galleries, a casual atmosphere, and a vibrant community. It is our hope that through Truth, there can be reconciliation and true peace amongst those who call this place home.
